HST Marine Achieves Certification in ISO 50001 Energy Management

On the 31.01.2023 Purus HST who are an established UK-based owner and operator of green focused offshore vessels, providing capability across the offshore industries throughout Europe, have successfully achieved ISO 50001 Energy Management Certification.

The ISO 50001 Standard is designed to support organisations in all sectors, this ISO standard provides a practical way to improve energy use, through the development of an energy management system (EnMS).

Mr Gareth Faulkner, QHSE Manager of Purus HST explains “The ISO 50001 Energy Management Standard is based on the management system model of continual improvement, which is also common across our other achieved standards, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, so it was a natural progression, aligned with our core environmental values to put controls in place to understand, manage and reduce our energy usage across the business, and the ISO 50001 standard gives us an excellent framework to achieve this”. ISO 50001 provides a framework of requirements for organisations to:

• Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy
• Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy
• Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use
• Measure the results
• Review how well the policy works, and
• Continually improve energy management.

This makes it easier for organisations to integrate energy management into their overall efforts to improve quality and environmental management.
